So I spent a bunch of time over the weekend creating our Family Values behavioral statements.  This is just a first draft.  Let me know if you think I missed the mark anywhere.  ALL ARE WELCOME to steal this and use for your own family as modified for your individual needs.

The point of this is to have a guideline for the values you want to pass to your children.  And then something to use to correct their behavior (and keep yours in check) when they make a mistake.

It's much better to correct them based on this document then it is to just randomly discipline them saying things like "this is now how we act".  This tells them how to act.

Torella Family Values                                                                         Version-01 3-26-2018

1.        We are emotional, intellectual, and spiritual beings, in our bodies…a Quadrinity.  We only get one body, brain, and life.  We take care of and nurture all three.  We choose the Right Road, accept we have a Dark Side, and pull ourselves to Light when on the Left Road.

2.       We fulfill our commitments to ourselves, then to this family, then to the rest of the world…in that order.  We fully accept each other for who we are, and love unconditionally.

3.       We stop talking and listen to ourselves, each other, and nature. We spend time, together as a family, but also individually.  We limit our use of electronic devices.

4.       It’s ok to FAIL.  It’s our First Attempt In Learning.  We continue to grow with an open mind our whole lives. Even when we fall flat on our faces, we are still moving forward.

5.       What others think about us is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.  We are honest and authentic with ourselves, each other, and others.

6.       We fill ourselves up with self-appreciation daily so we can act grateful and generous towards others, daily.  We show compassion for ourselves and others.

7.       We choose our behaviors and words carefully knowing we are solely responsible for both.  We are courageous, never give up, and celebrate our successes.  We live in the present moment, but plan for our future.

8.       We put our hearts and souls in everything we do.  This includes putting our hearts and souls into our hearts and souls. We are powerful beyond measure.

9.       We are love, loveable, and playful.  We each are responsible for our own individual happiness, but acknowledge whatever it is we are feeling.

10.   We are not our patterns.  We make mistakes, and then forgive ourselves and each other every day, by making peace with our past.
