Dear Graduate,


Checking in with yourself strengthens your ability to be present and live authentically, in harmony and integrity with all aspects of your Quadrinity. Our patterns often set us up to have one part of our Quadrinity dominating and running the show. The Intellect overrides the Emotional Self, or vice versa. Or, we are so out of touch with what is going on inside that our Body is paying the price, perhaps with exhaustion or even chronic tension or illness.

 

The Quadrinity Check-in is a wonderful practice for checking in with yourself. Taking a moment to listen to yourself and to be responsive to your own needs is very self-loving. Or, when you have an important decision to make, you can check in with your inner “board members,” making sure all aspects of you are in alignment. Stopping to hear a message from Spiritual Self can be comforting, or provide guidance and wisdom in a critical moment.

 

The Centering Practice is also a powerful way to bring yourself immediately present, and get answers from your whole being about what matters to you. Being “embodied” is being present. Your body only lives in the moment, while your thoughts extend into the past and the future. Just checking in with your sensations can bring you back from being “lost in thought” to being present. If you want to cultivate presence – “being where you are doing what you are doing” –try feeling your length, width, and depth. Then, breathe what you love and care about into your center. It’s a great reset and only takes a moment.
