Today's Practice: Suffering and Worth

We do not need to suffer in order to be worthy.

There is a tremendous belief present that we must have ailments, trauma or sickness in order to be deserving of God's love. This belief system operates unconsciously, but not just in relation to God, also in relation to others. We believe if we are sick others will love us. Of course this is not conscious or intentional, but it is very present. It is encouraged and strengthened when we get sick and receive care, love and attention from others.

The first way to change something is to recognize it.

Today, recognize if and how this may be true for you. While at first you may scoff at the idea that you have this program running unconsciously, I encourage you to observe yourself. Observe how you respond to others who are sick or in need, observe your mind and notice your thoughts. Then decide if you want to shift it.

Make a conscious choice to recognize and own your worth and your worthiness each and every day.
